Françoise Barraud

In my collages, I lay out skies filled with stars, suns, moons and silvery fish, a whole world without killing or hunger... Infinite spaces, enclosed gardens, venomless snakes, birds cooing, a solitary donkey nibbling the salted grass along a road... Runaway characters, tipsy palm trees, cities floating on dark and peaceful waters, insects doing the cha cha, dogs sharing a meal with wolves... I do not paint what I see but rather what inhabits me and which, sometimes, spread out on the canvas, surprises me as if my hand or eye had nothing to do with it...
